About manufacturer Movado

The company was founded by Achille Ditesheim in 1881. The Ditesheim family, a Jewish family, is part of the elite watchmaking circle of La Chaux-de-Fonds and owns several companies in the sector. Their first chronometers were produced in 1925 and the first waterproof watches in 1935. In 1946, Movado produced their first watches with calendar and automatic movement.
